Mornington Shire Active Ageing Programs

The Mornington Peninsula has so much to offer people at a time in their lives when they can appreciate the finer things in life. You may have come to the area in your retirement or have possibly lived here all of your life and are enjoying living and relaxing by the bay in your later years. The choice to slow your life down is sound, but in order to enjoy retirement to the fullest you need to optimise your health.
The Mornington Shire offer Active Ageing Programs designed to assist you in maintaining a healthy body and mind, so you can embrace the lifestyle you have planned and dreamt about.
The programs include modified exercise for older adults, ranging from water-based exercise to strength building and cardio activities.
Aqua Classes Water Based Exercise
• Aquaeze
• Sweat
Water-based class for older adults to build strength and cardio fitness, held at Pelican Park Recreation Centre, Marine Parade, Hastings on 1300 850 197. After eligibility is confirmed by a GP or Peninsula Health cost is $6 a session casual and membership is available.
Walks
• Walk for Wellness – meets at Mornington Library, Vancouver Street, Mornington
• Rosebud Plaza Walk – Port Phillip Plaza, Rosebud
• Mornington Centro Walk – Mornington Centro Shopping Centre, 78 Barkley Street Mornington
• Healthy Heart Walks – Somerville Recreation & Community Centre, 14 Edward Street Somerville

Strength Training Classes for Older Adults – Fees are varied and given on websites
Aerobics

Living Longer Living Stronger
Have your own individual strength training program while exercising with others

Prime Movers
A fun and easy aerobics class which is a little more “slow paced” than the traditional freestyle class.

Circuit Breakers

Build strength and improve cardio levels, especially designed for older adults
